Hoofcare Consulting

If you live outside the Hoofmaiden service area (Middle Tennessee), consider online consulting.  The fee is $100 for a complete consult, including evaluation, marking-up, and full discussion via email of photographs submitted by you per our instructions.  If you have digital x-rays, those will also be consulted and discussed, and videos of the horse's movement are extremely helpful as well.  You will be asked to complete a questionnaire detailing your horse's age, breed, living arrangements, diet, how much/what kind of work, and any known physical or psychological problems.

Once we have carefully evalated your materials, you will receive a set of photo comparisons, comparing your horse's feet to an ideal foot, including full and complete explanations of what we see as the problems your horse has and our suggestions for changes in trimming, diet, and lifestyle. Included in the initial consult is a follow-up consult: if you wish to submit new photos at any time within one year following the initial consult, I will compare them with the old ones to help you assess progress at no additional charge. This is a great option both for owner-trimmers and for those who are do not have a barefoot trimmer in the area and wish to have some feedback on what their farrier is doing. It's also an excellent first step if you are considering taking your shod horse barefoot--a no-risk way to get an idea of what will be involved in a transition to barefoot for your horse.
